NEW TRICKS

January 20, 2015

Dear Readers!  (My two followers--husband and daughter--AND for-those-of-you-who-may-come-to-know-me),

I am using this old blog to start a new blog but am too lazy to change names.  It may end up being a combo blog, if I ever get back to my game inventory info and links BUT what I am going to do with it now is record the things I learn new each day.  I did this for a few days/weeks two or three (or more?) years back and I LOVED IT.  It was very fun to record and read back and research.  I am confident it also increases memory retention, which is becoming more important as I age!!  (Ha. Ha--as I age and as we add family members to our numbers-- 50 years old with current count of 31 going on 32:  me and spouse, our 11 children, their 6 spouses and 12 children plus the 'one on the way'.)

I suppose, as time passes, I may write more personal history--also a good thing to record.  For now, I will return to the purpose of this blog and the exciting thing I learned yesterday and the fantastically exciting thing I learned today!!

Yesterday I was searching on Amazon (for all my answers--nah! just some) for pellets to refill a beanbag chair I got for Solomon for Christmas.  I looked at the different fills but was confused about what is the best, within an affordable range, so then checked a couple other websites and came across a beanbag company that fills their bags with a combination of pellets and shredded foam.  Aha!  I have shredded memory foam pillows so....  In reading some of the reviews I recalled a suggestion that one rub a dryer sheet around the zipper of the beanbag AND around the cut in the bag of pellets/foam so as you fill your chair the pellets do not stick to everything.  I considered that the static cling might create the same problem with shredded foam so I tried it and IT WORKED.  No mess.  No fuss.  No money.  Fantastic!!

Today it was pretty lame.  It shows the ignorance of my age and life (a stay-at-home mom that doesn't spend much real work time on  computers).  I did, magically, remember the name of my blog but had:  1)  No idea how to get in to write a post and  2) (as I found out) No idea how to get out of my husband's open work account in gmail and in to my account.  (Yes, I have had to do it before one way or another but that didn't seem to be working today. )  I did use my brain to call daughter, Emma, (instead of husband at work) and get her help.  She told me to click on the sign in button on the top  then where to right click to open an incognito Google Chrome tab so I could sign in without signing out my husband.  (Thank you, Emma.)  It remains to be seen whether I use these skills on my own next time!  Can she teach an old dog new tricks?

  2. Mom I'm so excited for this new blog! Do I need to call and remind you to post again? It is so hard to post every day--or even once a week! I have been wanting to post on my blog more but I just feel like I have nothing fun to post about. I guess I could try learning something new every day as well!
